Dr Aman Ahuja
Director, Pain Specialist and Anesthetist
His expertise covers most types of acute and chronic pain conditions like spinal pain, cancer pain and neuropathic pain. He is also experienced in advanced pain interventional techniques like nerve and joint blocks, epidural injections, radiofrequency ablation, spinal cord stimulation and other advanced neuro-modulation techniques. He has particular expertise in managing lumbar back pain and sciatica, neck, shoulder and arm pain, facial pains/headaches and other unexplained pain conditions.
Dr Ahuja is also currently working as a specialist pain medicine physician and consultant at the North Queensland Persistent Pain Management Service, Townsville, Australia, where his work focuses on clinical practice, research and advancing rational therapies for a diverse range of conditions. Over the years, Dr Ahuja has participated in multiple audits and research projects, which have been presented both nationally and internationally at medical conferences, and published in Indexed journals.
Dr Ahuja’s active interests include understanding the role of non-pharmacological approaches to managing pain. His current passion is to study the expanding role of radiofrequency in field of Pain Medicine.
Dr. Mahboubeh Adinehzadeh
MD, FRACGP, FFPMANZCA
Dr. Adinehzadeh has a dual fellowship in general practice and pain medicine. Having obtained her MD qualification in Iran, she got her GP fellowship in Australia. She was then trained in north Queensland persistent pain management service to become a pain specialist. Currently, she works as a pain specialist at Townsville university hospital as well and She is actively involved in training registrars and GP across North Queensland.
She follows the sociopsychobiomedical model of care and is passionate about managing complex chronic pain patients by involving allied health and judicial use of different medications and procedures. she has a special interest in chronic pelvic pain and is expanding her experience in this field by regularly attending educational meetings organized by world-leading pain society and organizations including IPPS and IASP.in.
Craig has specifically worked in the area of pain management over the past 10 years. Through his work in pain management he has developed a special interest in persistent neuropathic pain conditions such as complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS) and persistent neurogenic pain. He has also attended multiple persistent pain conferences and training around Australia, and has learnt from the leaders in persistent pain research.
Craig has also published research in international Rehabilitation Medical Journals, and is also a qualified lymphoedema therapist who is currently registered with the Australasian Lymphoedema Association. He also has a special interest with chronic wounds and will provide home visit services upon request. Away from work Craig is an A grade golfer who enjoys going to the gym and spending time with family and friends.
Jonathan graduated with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy from James Cook University and is now in his 8th year of clinical practice.
During and prior to his time working as a Physiotherapist, Jonathan has developed an interest in and skills in the areas of pain management, paediatrics and sporting injuries and rehabilitation. Jonathan enjoys working with people across all ages to inform and assist them in getting the best physical and functional outcomes available to them.
Jonathan enjoys learning and operating in, the multidisciplinary clinic that Livewell Pain Management Centre offers. He believes that the ability for him to offer physiotherapy input in his focus areas, as well having a variety of highly trained professionals under the same roof, enables him to offer the most effective care possible to the people he sees.
Jonathan’s interest in the area of Physiotherapy Pain Management began in 2015 where he quickly turned to the area clinically and has worked in ever since. Jonathan enjoys working with people to manage their pain and has a particular interest in the educational components to it.
Outside of Pain Management, Jonathan has almost completed his Diploma of Sports Therapies through the IOC, volunteers with a local soccer club and is a keen competitive rower.
Dr Akhilesh Tiwari
MBBS, DNB, FANZCA, FFPMANZCA, PG Diploma Clinical Research
Dr. Akhilesh Tiwari is a dual specialist in Anaesthesia and pain medicine. He received his initial training in a few of India’s best centers before moving to National University Hospital Singapore to work as a clinical fellow in Anaesthesia and Chronic pain. He then moved to Toronto and worked at St Michael’s Hospital and Toronto Western Hospital from 2013 to 2016. At the University of Toronto, Dr. Tiwari received further training in regional anaesthesia, Trauma Neuro anaesthesia, and critical care. While working in Toronto, he developed an interest in the role of ultrasound in anaesthesia and pain medicine. After working in these centers, Dr. Tiwari moved to Townsville and worked at Townsville University Hospital since 2016. Here he obtained his specialist qualification in chronic pain (FFPMANZCA).
Dr. Tiwari is also working as a pain medicine physician at the North Queensland Persistent Pain Management Service, Townsville University Hospital.
Over the year’s Dr. Tiwari has participated in numerous researches, which have been presented at various medical conferences and published in multiple peer-reviewed Indexed journals.
Dr. Tiwari is confident in the management of all aspects and types of chronic pain management. He is competent in advanced pain interventions like nerve blocks, epidural injections, Radiofrequency ablations, and other advanced neuromodulation techniques. He works closely with the patients and General Practitioners to ensure that the formulated plans are initiated in a timely fashion.
Dr. Tiwari’s interests are:
- Interventional Techniques for low back pain, chronic hip, knee, and shoulder pain with particular focus on neuromodulation and spinal cord stimulators.
- Chronic post-surgical pain.
- Role of Ultrasound as a point of care practice in pain medicine both as a diagnostic and therapeutic modality.
Outside of work, he is an avid traveler and enjoys basketball, cycling, and spending time with his wife Priya and kids Anshi and Advik.
She is passionate about providing therapeutic interventions to those impacted by chronic pain, though continues to support clients who experience other mental health concerns. She utilises a range of evidence based therapeutic interventions which include: Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance & Commitment Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Mindfulness and Motivational Interviewing. Julia is experienced in treating a broad range of mental health concerns, with particular interests in: Defence, Substance Misuse/Abuse, Adolescent Mental Health, Anxiety, Depression (including post natal depression) and Stress disorders.
Anndrea Steinhardt BNSc, Grad Dip Perioperative, Grad Dip Recovery and Anaesthetics, Australian College of Operating Room Nurses, Pain Interest Group – Nursing Issues.
I have been a Registered Nurse for over 30 years, and in the last 5 years I have been specialising in interventional procedural management, identifying and implementing care in the clinical practice, and providing patient education and support in all areas of pain management I believe in promoting patient outcomes by collaborating with our multi-disciplinary team and implementing best practice standards in patient care.
I am continuing education through programs such as NOI (Neuro Orthopaedic Institute of Australia) and ANZCA – Better Pain Management program, to stay updated on care and management of patients within our specific speciality.
Outside of work I enjoy baking, hiking, trying to do a 5km run, and spending time with my family, both human and animal alike.
